Last week's episode of "True Blood,"  'We'll Meet Again,' held so much promise, but last night, we watched as those elevated expectations disintegrated story line, by story line.

We had high hopes when Sookie raided her grandmother's liquor cabinet. Images of a more spirited Stackhouse sprouted like ragweed from every corner of our brains, and left us tethering on the edge of our seats with anticipation for the following episode.

Alas, in "Let's Boot and Rally," we found out Ms. Stackhouse is a terrible drunk, and not good terrible in a "let's trash the house" sort of way. She was the same old conscientious Sookie, albeit, a little smashed. The fairy princess just couldn't handle her liquor and regurgitated her peach Schnapps all over Alcide's shoes in the midst of their steamy make-out session. Again, Bill and Eric showed up just in the nick of time to watch the Sookie and Alcide show.

When they asked Sookie to join the hunt for the 3,000-year-old maniacal vampire, Russell Edgington, she giggled, and obviously still in a drunken haze, uttered " A 3,000 year old vampire wants to suck my blood. Must be Thursday! Totally up to the challenge, she all but dragged her army of saviors onward for the hunt.

Edgington is no longer incapacitated, most of his strength seemed to have returned and he's craving some sustenance of the fairy variety, to get it to full speed. Watch out Sookie!

The gang learned Nora, Eric's sister/lover was behind Edgington's escape, but Eric refused to believe she would ever betray him. We believe there's much more to this entangled web. So stay tuned!

Last week, we got a glimpse of Pam's nurturing side when she coaxed her new progeny, Tara, through the feeding process. Her mothering instincts seemed to have taken a turn for the worst as she resorted to using her well-crafted bullying skills as a form of disciplinary action.

Pam gave Tara no choice about joining the workforce as the new bartender of Fangtasia. Not too happy with her new uniform, Tara told her maker, " If I wanted to look like a drag queen, I would have raided Lafayette's closet."

Jessica and Tara bonded over their uncontrollable vampire urges, only to end up in a hair-raising brawl over Hoyt, Jessica ex-boyfriend.

Terry and his war buddy, Patrick are being hunted by an " Ifrit," or "fire monster." During their service in the war, their squadron killed and burned an entire Iraqi family. Before crossing over, one of their victims, a woman, curse them, saying the IFrit would "burn you all."

Sam and Luna were the latest targets of the anti-sup group, and were both shot. Poor Luna looked as good as dead. Sam who was still writhing in pain on the ground shouted to a petrified Emma to "run." She shifted and into the dark woods she went. We must admit, Emma is adorable as a wolf.
