Katy Perry, 27, is licking her wounds over her split to singer John Mayer, 34, according to People magazine.

They began their courtship after Perry divorced her then husband, Russell Brand. According to several reports, Perry wanted Brand to be the one to file for divorce so she wouldn't disappoint her evangelical Christan parents.

"They'll end up as friends," a source said. "They were honestly having fun. People made it out to be far more than it was."

From the look of things, it sounds like the only person that took the brief fling to heart was Perry

"She's really upset about it," a source told Us Magazine.

But with Mayer's reputation of being a notorious womanizer, how could Perry think their relationship would stand the test of time? The at-times crude crooner has bedded and reportedly broken the hearts of Jennifer Aniston, Taylor Swift and Jessica Simpson.

He has also proven to be quite ungentlemanly by revealing candid details of his past relationships to several publications.

About country darling Jessica Simpson he said: "That girl, for me, is a drug. And drugs aren't good for you if you do lots of them. Yeah, that girl is like crack cocaine to me... Sexually it was crazy. That's all I'll say. It was like napalm, sexual napalm," during an interview with Playboy magazine.

And likened his nether region to a " White Supremacist." "I don't think I open myself to it. My d**k is sort of like a white supremacist," he said. "I've got a Benetton heart and a f****n' David Duke c**k. I'm going to start dating separately from my d**k."

While Mayer has apologized for his antics, his past behavior is proof enough that his bachelor days are far from over.
