World War Z will be returning to the big screen after it proved to be an unexpected blockbuster hit, Entertainment Tonight reported Wednesday.

The zombie apocalypse film and Star Trek Into Darkness will be returning to the silver screen this Labor Day as part of a double feature. Between August 30 and September 5, fans will be able to see the movies once more as part of the distribution companies attempt to pad their sales. The films will be seen on select AMC and Regal theaters.

World War Z, released in June, is an unexpected encore performance. Critics panned the Brad Pitt effort before it came to movie theaters during its original run. It was not expected to make its budget of $220 million. However, world War Z has proven to be one of Pitt's better performing movies. World War Z passed the $500 million worldwide gross mark, which is more than Pitt's Troy's $497.3 million haul.

Furthermore, World War Z also proved to be Pitt's biggest opening bow. It debuted with $66 million opening on June 21. Up until that point, his previous best had been 2005's Mr. and Mrs. Smith which debuted with $50.3 million.
