James Franco has confirmed that he will star in the Of Mice and Men portraying the character George, opposite Chris  O'Dowd who will play Lennie, Us Weekly reported.

Franco revealed this at Live Talks with James Franco in California on Sunday, Oct. 20, "I am going to do a play on Broadway. I am going to do Of Mice And Men with Chris O' Dowd, directed by this amazing director, Anna Shapiro, who won a Tony for the stage version of August: Osage County. So that will be my Broadway debut."

The 35-year-old actor does not seem nervous about taking the iconic role of George who is a smart migrant worker who helps his friend, the mentally challenged Lennie through the Great Depression. He also mentioned that he previous performances have influenced how the public sees him.

"Everyone thinks I'm a pothead. A lot of people think I'm gay. A lot of kids come up to me and say, 'wow, your arm grew back.' So you're perceived through your characters. You're perceived through your interviews," he said during the Q & A.

However, it seemed that the actor is also interested in writing a script for a play someday.

"As far as writing a play, I have this idea, I haven't been able to figure it out yet," he revealed. "I've done little versions of it, but I wanted to do a dramatic version of Three's Company. Those characters, the way it's so dated, and somehow, make it a drama. So, that's what I'd like to do. I know somebody's gonna steal that idea, but I get to meet with the Three's Company people so you don't have the rights to."
