Katy Perry and John Mayer have taken their love to The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
The couple appear on the Friday telecast of the popular talk show and open up about their relationship. One of the keys to any relationship is communication. However, the two are often not able to speak to each other. Mayer underwent throat surgery last year and still struggles from time to time.
"I understood that he couldn't talk, and the only way he could communicate was through an iPad," Perry said. "Some days I have to go on complete vocal rest, like no anything, no whispering. Whispering is actually really bad. There's just a lot of silence in our house most of the time."
The couple also offered their opinion on the now infamous Bound 2 U video starring Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Perry joked that Kardashian’s hair was blowing in the wrong direction. Mayer gave credit to her humor for helping him to feel better at home.
"This is why voice rest is just fine," he said. "You get these chestnuts."
The duo also discussed their recently released video, Who You Love. The theme of the clip was couples overcoming troubles in their relationships.
"I think when two people are involved, someone other than yourself, you have to figure out a compromise in a good way. And there's a lot of respect," she said.
"We have a lot of fun. You know, we have music as an understanding and love between each other, and we connect, and you know it's like he understands what I do because he does the same thing. And so after a long day, if it's been tough, I don't really have to go into it. He just gets it. You know, so it's nice with that understanding."
