'Sam & Cat' Future In Jeopardy Following Jennette McCurdy Twitter Diss

Sam & Cat's future is reportedly in jeopardy over the ongoing tension between Nickelodeon and Jennette McCurdy.

After several workers from the series were let go, reports have surfaced, which claim that the show has been put on "permanent hiatus" after just one season on the network.

"We are wrapping up what was an unusually long production cycle of Sam & Cat, and everyone is understandably tired," Nickelodeon told E! News in an April 2 statement about the show's future. "We are going into our production hiatus next week which will give everyone on the show a much needed rest."

On Saturday, as Ariana Grande walked the red carpet at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, McCurdy was nowhere to be seen, and after receiving questions about her whereabouts, she took to Twitter where she explained she opted out of the event because of her issues with the network.

"I was put in an uncomfortable, compromising, unfair situation (many of you have guessed what it is) and I had to look out for me," she wrote on March 30. "I chose to not go because sticking up for what is right and what is fair is what my mom taught me is ALWAYS the most important thing."

McCurdy later confirmed the tweet was in regard to "how Nickelodeon treated me."

Although many thought that the message could have stemmed from McCurdy's recently leaked racy photos, TMZ sources said on Wednesday that their feud was over money.

According to the sources, McCurdy is paid substantially less than her Sam & Cat co-star Grande, and while she's tried to adjust her deal with the network, Nickelodeon doesn't appear interested in raising her pay.

As for McCurdy's relationship with Grande, sources said, despite all the rumors claiming otherwise, the pair are getting along fine.
