MTV Renews 'Teen Mom 2' For A Sixth Season

MTV is reportedly moving forward with a sixth season of Teen Mom 2.

Although it was announced last month that the series would come to an end after season five, MTV has since had a change of heart, opting to renew the show and bring the cast back for another season.

“Producers saw that ratings were so high,” a source explained to Radar Online on April 8. “And now there’s a whole new crop of drama: Jenelle’s pregnant, and Leah and Jeremy are talking divorce. It would be foolish to stop filming now.”

In Dec. 2013, Jenelle Evans announced that she and boyfriend Nathan Griffith, whom fans at the beginning of season five, would be welcoming their first child together, a son they will call Kaiser, in June 2014. However, Evans has yet to regain custody of her first child, Jace, 4, and boyfriend Griffith is in the same boat with his daughter Emery, 2.

Leah Calvert and her husband Jeremy have been fighting for nearly all of season five over Jeremy's lack of balance when it comes to his family and career. They even spoke about getting a divorce, but according to Calvert, things have since gotten better between them.

Unfortunately, the same can't be said for Chelsea Houska and her child's father. As she continues to co-parent her daughter Aubree with her father, Adam Lind, who just recently broke up with his girlfriend, things are still strained, and they don't appear to be making any progress towards a civil relationship.

Meanwhile, Kail Lowry and Javi Marroquin are enjoying married life and adjusting to being the parents of two boys after welcoming son Lincoln Marshall in Nov. 2013.

Teen Mom 2 season five is currently airing on Tuesday nights at 10 p.m. on MTV. The series' sixth season is scheduled to debut later this year.
