Kail Lowry opened up about her devastating childhood in her new book.

While writing the soon-to-be-released memoir, the Teen Mom 2 star looked back at her life as a child, recalling the damaging effects of her alcoholic mother's behavior.

“I remember being dropped off at friends’ houses and sometimes not getting a phone call for what seemed like days,” Lowry wrote of her mother, Suzi, in a snippet from her new book, obtained by Radar Online. “In those times, when she would disappear for days without warning, I’d wonder if I would ever see her again.”

During her school years, Lowry often found herself having to protect her mother, and admittedly lied to her teachers and counselors about her mother's wherabouts, as well as the reason behind her strange behavior. At one point, Suzi showed up to Lowry's school drunk, which she also attempted to defend.

Once she reached her teenage years, Lowry, who had become well aware of her mother's struggles, began hanging out with the wrong crowd, and engaging in illegal behavior.

“Smoking pot became the hobby I’d never had as a little girl,” she explained. “It made me feel like I was part of a group. But it didn’t take away the hurt or fury I was holding onto.”

Although drug use may have numbed Lowry's pain temporarily, once her buzz wore off, she was right back to where she was, feeling abandoned, angry, sad and disappointed, all at once. As a result, her own behavior began to change and the once innocent child turned into an aggressive, hot-tempered teen.

“Anyone I disagreed with would get attitude from me. I talked back to teachers, peers, anyone who rubbed me the wrong way," Lowry admitted. "Occasionally, I got physical and would throw a punch.”

Following the birth of her first son, Isaac, Lowry's relationship with her mother became even more strained, and eventually, Lowry was forced to move out and raise her son alone, which she did. And while Suzi would reappear in her life from time to time, nothing has been solid and her alcoholism has continued, making it difficult for Lowry to trust her around her family.

Lowry's book, Pride Over Pity, will be released on April 22.
