Paul McCartney has fallen ill in Tokyo.

After suffering from what is being reported as a viral infection, McCartney was reportedly hospitalized, causing him to cancel the remainder of his tour of Japan and South Korea.

“I’d like to thank my Japanese fans for their love, messages of support and understanding,” McCartney said in a statement, via FOX News. “I hope to see you all again soon. Love, Paul.”

McCartney, 71, began feeling under the weather last week and chose to postpone a few concerts at that point, taking to social media to apologize to those who had been affected by the change. However, according to the report, his condition quickly worsened, leading him to seek medical attention. At that point, doctors reportedly discovered McCartney was dealing with a viral infection, and that he would need to take an extended leave from his demanding tour schedule.

According to FOX News, the Sankei Sports newspaper in Tokyo was the original source of the news, but in their report, they failed to mention the name of the hospital in which McCartney was being treated. They also failed to give any other details about his condition, or how long he would be staying at the facility.

Although McCartney has canceled his "Out There" tour in Japan and South Korea, he will reportedly continue on with his U.S. concert dates, which are set to begin in Lubbock, Texas on June 14, 2014 and end in San Francisco, Calif. on Aug. 14, 2014.
