Wendy Williams spoke of her decision to get plastic surgery in a new interview, revealing childhood fat shamming led her down a dark path.

During the interview, Williams revealed she was fat shammed as a child and went on her first diet in the first grade, but now, the talk show host claims she loves her body.

“I'm 5-foot-11, 165 pounds and I love my body at this point in my life,” Williams told PEOPLE Magazine, via an Aug. 6 report by Life & Style. But it wasn't always that way. “In the seventies I guess that is what they called 'love,'" Williams joked of her weight critics. “When I look back I was a little fluffy, but I wasn't fat.”

Once she got to college, Williams' confidence had taken a hit and she began using cocaine. Quickly, her habit got the best of her and even after landing her first big gig on NYC’s WRKS radio station in 1989, Williams continued her drug use. Luckily, after falling in love with her future husband, Kevin Hunter, Williams was able to kick her habit and get her life back on track.

After struggling through a couple of miscarriages and giving birth to her son, Kevin Jr., Williams had gained around 100 pounds and decided to undergo a “mommy makeover,” which included a tummy tuck.

“It was a kickoff to a new way of life,” she explained of her decision to go under the knife. “I've corrected just about everything that bothered the hell out of me in my twenties, thirties and forties. I have to say, this is not how I thought things would turn out. I'm sober, I've got my Kevins, my parents are still around to see my success.”
