Denzel Washington Rehab 2014: Actor Reportedly Checked Into Treatment Center For Detox

Denzel Washington reportedly checked out of an Orange County, Calif. residence earlier this week.

Following a "wild, alcohol-fueled, gluttonous month-long vacation," the 59-year-old actor and father of four allegedly visited a treatment center, where he was said to have detoxed for two weeks with the help of professionals.

According to an Aug. 18 report by TMZ, Washington and his wife, Pauletta Pearson, spent the month of July on a yacht were he "was partying and partying hard."

Over the weekend, reportedly after his exit from the treatment center, Washington surfaced in Malibu, Calif., where he looked healthy and spoke to photographers, acting clueless about any possible detox.

When TMZ asked Washington about his time "cleansing" in Orange County, Calif., all Washington would say was, "What detox place?"

TMZ's source claimed Washington's stint at the treatment center was not just for alcohol. Instead, the source said, Washington was in for an "overall cleanse for toxins." And, in addition to the professional help he received to detox, Washington allegedly had a nutritionist, a trainer and a chef.

In response to the report, Washington's publicist spoke to Entertainment Tonight.

"He does this health cleanse every time he's about to go back to work and start his conditioning and nutritional program," the publicist explained. "Always cleans up after the family vacation in prep for work. Nothing new."

In the upcoming weeks, Washington will begin promoting his new film, The Equalizer. In the film, Washington plays a former black ops commando who comes out of retirement to rescue a young girl.

The Equalizer hits theaters on Sept. 26th.
