Jennifer Hudson's Half-Brother Arrested: Jailed For Stabbing a Man

It seems like Jennifer Hudson's family just can't catch a break.

Hudson's half-brother is behind bars after allegedly stabbing a man in the face.

TMZ reported on Aug. 19 that Steven Simpson had a motive. The victim is apparently involved in some sort of relationship with Simpson's estranged wife.

Neighbor Torrey Hunt said he found the victim bleeding and begging for help in the middle of the night, the Mirror reported on Aug. 20. 

"I opened the door and see blood everywhere," Hunt said. "He was stabbed in his chin and his chest, he had puncture wounds in his chest and his arms and stuff."

Simpson is currently on probation and has a history of domestic violence, reported the Mirror. It is not known whether he had a close relationship with Hudson. 

He is now in custody in Paw Paw, Michigan, and is expected to be charged with home invasion and attempted murder, TMZ said.

Talk about déjà vu...

History is certainly repeating itself. The Hudson family suffered a similar tragedy just a few years ago, when William Balfour viciously murdered three members of Hudson's family.

Balfour, the ex-boyfriend of Hudson's sister Julia, murdered her mom, brother and nephew in a fit of rage, triggered by jealously over a gift he believed was from Julia's new boyfriend.

Balfour was convicted of first-degree murder, home invasion and residential burglary, and was sentenced to three consecutive life sentences in prison, TMZ reported in July 2012.
