Once again, the Internet proved just how creepy it could be.

Its latest scandal: a considerate amount of alleged celebrity nudes leaked on 4chan last night.

An anonymous user on 4chan began leaking celebrity nudes on Aug. 30 at around 4pm ET. Personal photos in the cache include Jennifer Lawrence, Ariana Grande, Kate Upton, Victoria Justice and Lea Michele, among many others.

It is still unclear how the user hacked these photos, but  the 4chan community and Reddit claim these images were stolen through their respective iCloud accounts, although this is still not verified.

The user is reportedly requesting bitcoins in exchange for the release of these photos, and the many others they claim to have possessed in the hack.

It is also unclear whether all these photos are authentic.

Jennifer Lawrence's rep confirmed to BuzzFeed they are. Gawker's Neetzan Zimmerman tweeted yesterday: "Jennifer Lawrence spox confirms authenticity of nude pics to @BuzzFeed, says anyone posting them will be prosecuted."

Mary E. Winstead, another actress affected by the hack, took a more personal route. She tweeted: "To those of you looking at photos I took with my husband years ago in the privacy of our home, hope you feel great about yourselves."

And: "Knowing those photos were deleted long ago, I can only imagine the creepy effort that went into this. Feeling for everyone who got hacked."

Arianna Grande's rep told BuzzFeed that "the photos are completely fake," while Victoria Justice took to Twitter: "These so called nudes of me are FAKE people. Let me nip this in the bud right now. Pun intended"

At least some celebs are taking light of this situation. Becca Tobin, an actress on Glee whose leaked pics showed her decorating a Christmas tree (in the nude, of course) tweeted: "Merry XXXmas!"
