Apollo Nida is behind bars and his wife, Phaedra Parks, isn't happy.

Apollo Nida Shares Positive Message Before Entering Prison

On Wednesday, Sept. 10, Nida turned himself into prison to begin serving an eight-year sentence for fraud. A short time later, a source spoke out on Parks' behalf, claiming Nida went into full-on partying mode before turning himself in.

"Apollo has essentially abandoned his family for the last 2 months ... choosing drinking and strip clubs over his wife and 2 kids," a friend reportedly told TMZ on Sept. 10. "Over the last week things got so bad and so tense she feared physical abuse ... although nothing happened."

Apollo Nida Is Writing A Tell-All

In Jan. 2014, Nida was charged with bank fraud and identity theft after he reportedly "created fake companies and ripped off individuals by opening up fake bank accounts using their real names." In May, Nida pled guilty to said charges and was sentenced to an eight-year term two months later.

This isn't the first time Nida has been behind bars. In fact, the Real Housewives of Atlanta husband once served a six-year term for auto loan fraud.

Nida and Parks have two young sons, Ayden and Dylan, and have been married since 2009.

Before entering prison, Nida was allegedly "pissed off" at Parks for a number of reasons, one of which was her failure to show up for his sentencing in July. Nida is said to also be upset over Parks' book tour interfering with his remaining time as a free man.

According to Parks' rep, Nida's legal issues have put a "tremendous strain" on her family.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta returns to Bravo on Nov. 2.
