Leah Calvert was caught off-guard when her ex-husband suddenly filed for custody of their 4-year-old twins.

Earlier this year, the Teen Mom 2 star's ex, Corey Simms, filed court documents, requesting he be named as the girls' primary provider. On Wednesday night's upcoming episode, Calvert can be seen reacting to the news.

“It shocked me,” Calvert told her stepfather of Simms’ filing in a sneak peek at the new episode, according to a Sept. 22 report by Radar Online. “Why would you give custody to a parent who is in denial of what the facts are when it comes to Ali’s medical condition, who is not wanting to cooperate with fulfilling her needs?”

'Teen Mom 2' Will Return For A Sixth Season

Calvert and Simms were married shortly after the girls were born. However, just six months later, the couple called it quits. Since moving on from the marriage, both Calvert and Simms have remarried.

Earlier this season, fans watched as Calvert struggled with anxiety and began taking prescription medication. Although the pills she took were prescribed by a doctor, Calvert admitted, on-camera, to feeling "drugged out." Fans also saw her slurring her words during a conversation with her daughter Ali's doctor (Ali is suffering from a rare form of muscular dystropy).

According to reports, Simms will use Calvert's use of drugs, albiet legal, against her in court.

“If I was such a bad mom, why didn’t he do it before?” she asked. “The worst outcome would probably be that he would get full custody, and I don’t know how I would deal with that…I can’t imagine not being the one taking care of her.”
