Teresa Giudice's Judge Speaks Out: "I Need To Send A Message"

On Thursday, the Real Housewives of New Jersey couple appeared in court, where they each received time behind bars. One day later, they filmed Watch What Happens Live and addressed the the outcome of their hearing.

“I was so nervous yesterday that I was shaking,” Teresa told host Andy Cohen, according to an Oct. 6 report by Us Weekly. “My nerves were pulling. At one point, I couldn’t move my fingers. They were stuck. I couldn’t open my hands. My nerves were shot. I’ve had sleepless nights. I, of course, I was shocked. It was very unexpected. I don’t even know what to say.”

Teresa and Joe received jail time on Oct. 2, after pleading guilty to charges of bank and wire fraud earlier this year. Although Teresa was facing 27 months behind bars, her sentence of 15 months came as a shock. Despite her guilty plea, Teresa was reportedly expecting to get house arrest, which would have allowed her to remain at home with her and Joe's four daughters. Instead, the reality star will turn herself into prison on Jan. 5, and remain there for 15 months as Joe cares for the girls.

“My husband is a great father, a great husband, but I do everything with my daughters,” she explained. “I’m the one that’s hands-on. All I’ve said to my husband was ‘Please take care of our daughters, that’s all I ask. You’ve gotta do what I do.’”

Joe, who was facing 47 months behind bars, received a 41-month prison term during sentencing. Once Teresa completes her 15 months, Joe will be forced to turn himself in. He was also required to pay over $414,000 in restitution.

Watch What Happens Live airs tonight, Monday, Oct. 6, at 9 p.m. on Bravo.
