In May, after confirming the news of her second pregnancy, Purvis spoke to Radar Online about her excitement about having another boy.

“I wanted a boy!” Purvis told Radar on May 14, 2014. “So I’m happy. I don’t think I would have been good at raising a girl cause I’m not a real girly-girl. I just think boys fit me better.”

Purvis also explained her name choice for the boy, saying, "I’ve always loved the name River, and it feels right, and I wanted a ‘B’ for the middle name since mine is Blake.”
