Dean McDermott may have cheated on his wife, but he doesn't want to deal with the label.

Tori Spelling Sees A Photo Of Emily Goodhand

Following a heated Twitter rant against his haters, McDermott sat down for an interview. During the chat, the actor turned reality star spoke of his hopes that the public would one day see him in a better light.

“I would love for the public to see me as just a human being,” McDermott said during an interview with E! News, via a Nov. 4 report by Radar Online. "I'm just trying to get through this life. I'm trying to do some good. I'm trying to teach my kids right from wrong and just have a good life."

Currently, McDermott and his wife, Tori Spelling, are starring in a reality show about their life after McDermott's highly-publicized affair with Emily Goodhand. On the second season of the series, Lifetime's True Tori, Spelling saw the first photo of Goodhand and told a friend she found the woman to be "unattractive."

"I messed up. People make mistakes, but those mistakes don't define me. It's what you do after the mistakes that shows your true character," McDermott continued.

After the scene in which Spelling got her first look at Goodhand, she was seen saying, "I was completely blown away by what Emily looked like. I found her unattractive. Before this, I would never have felt threatened by that girl.' I'd be like, 'My husband would never,' but now all bets are off."

McDermott engaged in an affair with Goodhand in Dec. 2013, while in Canada to film a cooking show. He and Spelling began filming their reality show four months later.

True Tori airs on Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. on Lifetime.
