Selena Gomez Cried While Performing "The Heart Wants What It Wants" at the AMA 2014

Selena Gomez cried while singing "The Heart Wants What It Wants" at last night's 2014 American Music Awards held at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.

The Texas born singer and actress who wore a nude thigh high slit gown by Giorgio Armani showed emotion while performing.

The song was certainly about her on and off boyfriend, Justin Bieber, as the prequel of the song states, which is also heard out in the music video as a phone conversation, "When I was on stage and I was thinking of... I know him though, and I know that I know his heart, and I know what he wouldn't do to hurt me."

The 22 year old singer then delivered an emotional performance in front of music industry's biggest names that consisted of her best-friend Taylor Swift.

Gomez's crooned to the lyrics: "Hand over heart, I'm praying, that I'm gonna make it out alive," with hand motions and an equally emotional illustration in a giant screen behind her showing a giant moon, lightning storm, a weeping woman, and wings.

And the subject of the song was certainly, Justin Bieber, as later on a video of a covered shadow of a guy shown resting his palms in a clouded glass panel was revealed.

When Gomez ended the song, the audience were stunned to see her eyes welled up with tears and she began crying. And among the audience was Swift, who basically understood what's going on, as the camera flashed a sympathetic look from Swift.

In a recent interview with On Air with Ryan Seacrest, she revealed that Bieber was a fan of the song explaining, "He thought it was beautiful. I think it was really hard. I think he was a little jealous of the video guy at first. Honestly, music is an expression, and if you will be that voice for these girls, there are some people that feel this. This is universal."
