Jupiter Ascending, which will show in theaters beginning February 6, 2015, tells the story of Jupiter Jones (played by Mila Kunis), a lowly, unlucky Chicago cleaning lady who learns that she's been pre-destined by her genes to become the next Queen of the Universe. Only when Caine (played by Channing Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth after tracking her down does she learn that her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an inheritance that could alter the balance of everything in the cosmos.

In a faraway galaxy, for countless millenia, The House of Abrasax holds reign over every habitable planet in the universe. Now, following the death of its matriarch, her three primary heirs - the Abrasax siblings, Balem (Eddie Redmayne), Kalique (Tuppence Middleton)and Titus (Douglas Booth) are at war over who will inherit the crown, in the process, dragging the dynasty into a state of turmoil. Elsewhere, on the backwater planet known as Earth, another heir has emerged whose claim may be even greater than theirs. Jupiter Jones, unknown to herself carries a genetic legacy that entitles her to succeed the Abrasax matriarch. Because of the threat she poses, Balem puts out a bounty on her head. Caine, the genetically-engineered ex-military operative, comes to Earth to protect Jupiter and help her claim her rightful inheritance. Along the way, they team up with Stinger (played by Sean Bean), also an ex-military and a friend of Caine who's been exiled on Earth.

Jupiter Ascending is written, produced and directed by The Wachowskis, the brother-and-sister team of Andy and Lana Wachowski of The Matrix trilogy and V for Vendetta fame.
