Liam Neeson paid tribute to his late wife, Natasha Richardson, by attending a revival of Cabaret. It was 17 years ago when his wife starred in the celebrated Broadway hit musical.

As reported by US weekly, the Taken 3 actor came to see the show along with his two sons, Michael, 19 and Daniel, 18. The show was very special to Neeson and his sons as this reminded them of how fabulous Richardson was.

Richardson was 45 years old when she died of brain complications after a skiing accident. The actress won a Tony Award in 1988 for portraying Sally Bowles in the hit Broadway musical. The show originated from Broadway and was then adapted to the big screen where Liza Minnelli starred in.

The famous Sally Bowles role is now played by The Amazing Spider-Man actress Emma Stone. Previously, it was played by Oscar-nominated actress Michelle Williams,The Breakfast Club's Molly Ringwald, Pretty Baby actress Brooke Shields and Back to the Future actress Lea Thompson.

Currently, Stone is taking on the role with critical acclaim and she is supported by actors Alan Cumming, Danny Burstein and actress Linda Emond. British actress Sienna Miller will replace Stone by next month.

The Neeson family went on to visit Cumming at the backstage as well. "It was lovely to see him," Cumming tells Us Weekly of Neeson. "It was an emotional evening for him, but I was so glad to see him and it was such a lovely kind of moment. It made peace for me in a lot of ways. I think it was also lovely for Emma [Stone]. I gave her a picture from the Cabaret book of Natasha doing her makeup in the mirror. That's on her wall. Liam saw that and they actually have that picture of her up in their house too. It was a very lovely thing."

Before his wife's passing, they were married for 15 years. Richardson was part of the British acting powerhouse that includes mother Vanessa Redgrave, sister Joely Richardson and aunt Lynn Redgrave.

"[Her death] was never real," Neeson told Anderson Cooper last year about Richardson's passing. "There's periods now in our New York residence when I hear the door opening, especially the first couple of years... anytime I hear that door opening, I still think I'm going to hear her."
