ABC's Scandal Season 4: Episode 10 airs Thursday, January 29, at its regular 9:00 pm timeslot and is titled "Run." Directed by Tom Verica from a script written by showrunner Shonda Rhimes, the upcoming episode, teased the studio synopsis, "picks up right where the finale left off, this time from Olivia's point of view. Exactly what happened when Jake went to the bedroom? Who took Olivia and where did she go? The fight of Olivia's life will begin..." when Scandal returns from its holiday break.

At the end of "Where the Sun Don't Shin," the midseason finale, almost every major character on the show seemed to have been left hanging on the proverbial cliff. President Fitz went ahead and decided to go to war with West Angola. Olivia was kidnapped following her showdown with her father Rowan who ordered a hit on every B613 member, including Olivia's boyfriend Jake and her employee Quinn. And it was also revealed that Vice President Andrew Nichols had been in cahoots all along with Elizabeth North in a plot to undermine Fitz, the President.

Scandal stars Kerry Washington as Olivia Pope, Guillermo Diaz as Huck, Darby Stanchfield as Abby Whelan, Katie Lowes as Quinn Perkins, Tony Goldwyn as President Fitzgerald Grant, Jeff Perry as Cyrus Beene, Bellamy Young as Mellie Grant, Joshua Malina as David Rosen and Scott Foley as Jacob 'Jake' Ballard. The show's recurring cast includes Joe Morton as Rowan 'Eli' Pope, Portia de Rossi as Elizabeth North, Matthew del Negro as Michael, Brian Letscher as Tom Larsen, George Newbern as Charlie, Jasika Nicole as Kim, Jon Tenney as Vice President Andrew Nichols, Sharmila Devan as Lauren Wellman, Sonya Wlager as Catherine Winslow, Mar Mouser as Karen Grant, and Kate Burton as Sally Langston.

"Run" is the show's 57th episode since its debut on April 5, 2012. Kerry Washington's character, Olivia Pope, is based loosely based on Scandal executive co-producer Judy Smith's past persona as a real life crisis management and communications specialist for high-profile politicians as well as the rich and famous. She also served as an administration press aide for George H.W. Bush.
