Animoca Brands, a Hong Kong-based mobile game development company, on Tuesday announced that it had inked a deal to the license for the name and likeness of celebrity Paris Hilton for use in a new mobile title based on the "socialite, singer, model, actress, and entrepreneur."

Animoca Brands CEO Robby Yung in a talk with Game Spot said that Hilton is one of the "world's most recognized names." He adds: "With Paris' eye for what's hot in the latest trends, and our experience at making popular mobile games, we are confident that consumers around the world will be receptive to Paris Hilton mobile games and themes."

Yung said the company will be taking a "phased" approach to development on the upcoming Paris Hilton video game, building branded items for purchase first before making a full game. He did not say under what genre the game will be classified.

Animoca Brands has also created mobile video games based on other popular franchises. Following the deal, Paris will be joining a stable that also includes Garfield, Astro Boy, Ben 10, Ultraman, the YouTube celebrity Tiffany Alvord and the Japanese manga character Doraemon.

Paris will also be joining other celebrities who have their own video games, or plans to make their own games, like Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Lindsey Lohan, among others.

The Kim Kardashian game by Hollywood game app maker Glu Mobile, according to AdWeek, is "taking the mobile world storm," having been downloaded over 28 million times and played for a total of 11 billion minutes, earning the company more than US$74 million last year.

Animoca, like Glu Mobile, follows a "fremium" model strategy: free game downloads with in-app purchases and advertising.

The deal with Animoca is not Hilton's first time to be featured in a video game. She also starred in 2006's Paris Hilton's Diamond Quest from Gameloft.
