'Grey's Anatomy' Gets a New Power Couple While Tensions Run High

Looks like MerDer isn't the power couple of the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital as Kevin McKidd and Caterina Scorsone's Owen and Amelia took their new found relationship to a whole new level in Grey's Anatomy episode 17 named "With or Without You" as she met the mother of her new flame, Mrs. Hunt, played by Debra Mooney.

Mooney came back to the show alright but in a not so ideal circumstance. Apparently Mrs. Hunt was admitted into the hospital due to a medical condition but fans were reassured than to worry as it was a fun episode. According to an interview by Entertainment Weekly, McKidd gushed on how it was great to have Mooney back. He also adds a few things that may end up spelling a good ending for the Owen and Amelia while seeing a rather surprising twist to his mother's love life. McKidd reveals, "Owen and Amelia are not a couple yet, so it's interesting to see how that plays out between them. Amelia and Owen's mom actually hit it off very quickly. They like each other and become fast friends. Owen is the odd man out in the whole situation," International Business Times quotes. Aside from the whole meet the mom fiasco, Owen and Amelia will also be facing a few relationship problems especially when it comes to taking their relationship into a new level of intimacy in the face of work.

Meanwhile, as much as it was a fun episode for Owen-Amelia fans, things did not bode well for Patrick Dempsey's Derek and Ellen Pompeo's Meredith especially since the accusation of cheating seemed to be dangling over their heads. So far Derek told his wife that he came back from D.C to save their marriage though we somehow know it was all because of Renee Collier, played by Scottie Thomspon. Meredith leaned to work after hearing that since she was a resident once upon a time too. After a tumultuous day with a 17-year-old patient dying and a confession from Derek herself, it would seem that MerDer's heading off to rocky shores.
