Global Warming Slowing Down, Thanks to the Dry Pacific West Winds

The reason why there is dryness in the West these past 20 years or so is because of the waning winds of the Pacific Ocean as per the report of Discovery News.

The heat comes from the strong winds going to the depths of the ocean hence the causing a temporary slowing down in the surface of land and have been warming it for the past 20 years.  It is what you call a warming pause, hiatus or even a false pause since it's just a slowdown of the trade winds.

According to Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory climate modeler Tom Delworth, climate natural variability is not surprising but understanding the hiatus mechanism is important and should be done to measure its effects.

The strong winds that blow out from the east have been shoving warm waters across and over the Pacific.  It eventually forces the winds below the ocean's surface.  On the other hand, cooler water rises as a replacement on the eastern Pacific.  This type of mechanism has quite helped slow down the warming rate on the land despite the rising global warming indicator.  It was recorded that the hottest year was 2014.

Delworth also stated that the atmosphere and ocean are linked intimately and the ultimate story does not stop on the Pacific's depth of the water.  His analysis has shown the deficit in the precipitation which brought drought in the western US.  Since the year 2000, drought has brought drastic changes in the hot Pacific region.  He also concluded that conditions of the ocean helped set up a pattern that brought storms into the Canadian territory.
