As per the report of the New York Times, health officials are strongly giving a warning to the Ebola virus survivors not to engage in unprotected sexual activities after they have discovered that the virus stays in the fluids even after 175 days.

There has been a case that a man infected with the virus had his fluids checked including his semen and health officials were worried since it turned out the virus is still present even after 175 days have passed.  The man was on his way to recovery and the virus was stayed more than 74 days compared to the other survivors.

There was an announcement before of the transmission guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that survivors should be waiting after recovery at least three months before they engage in sexual activity without protection.  Now, the announcement is replaced by a stern warning that survivors of the Ebola virus should never have sex in any form since transmission through sexual activity cannot be safe anymore.  People should wait for further valid and safety information before engaging in such activities or must use protection like condoms.

The latest count from CDC increases and that the African countries widely affected by the 2014 outbreak were Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone where at least 25,500 positive cases were reported and still rising.  In these cases the death toll is more than 10,000.

World Health Organization has reported that new infections have decreased since the initial outbreak just last year but the agency still calls it an international state of emergency.  People should still be very vigilant on their everyday life especially involving sexual activities.
