"Last Man on Earth" Season 3 cancellation news reveals that there is a lot of uncertainty with regard to the show's future on air. In an interview with TVLine, Will Forte explained that they still have not heard any updates about the show's potential fourth season from Fox.

Forte said that the network definitely likes the show, but the fate of "Last Man on Earth" Season 3 would still depend on its ratings. As TV Series Finale notes, the show has gone through quite a huge drop in ratings since its season premiere in September.

As of writing, "Last Man on Earth" Season 3 is averaging 0.97 in the demo with 2.297 million viewers, a 16.05 percent and 16.40 percent drop from last season's ratings, respectively. Forte, however, remained optimistic that the show will still go on for another season, especially since the season 3 finale will leave viewers wanting for more.

"There's something that happens [in the episode] that opens the gateway to the possibility of stuff," he said.

As Screener recaps, "Last Man on Earth" Season 3 has previously shown the death of another member of Team Tandy. Lewis died a brutal and surprising death while he is up in the skies.

Despite Lewis' departure from the show, "Last Man on Earth" Season 3 also featured the casting of Kristen Wiig as Pamela Brinton. This made a lot of viewers wonder whether her addition will cost the life of another character.
