'Frozen 2' Is Finally in Development; Producer Teases Exciting Details of the Sequel, Release Date Remains Unknown

It appears that Elsa will finally continue her journey with her icy powers on the big screen as "Frozen 2" is now in development. Critics say that the film has attracted mostly female viewers as it features two female lead characters. The film also chose to twist the traditional romantic plot of fairy tales, where a prince charming is certainly the true love of the female lead. However, the animated film's prince charming turned out to be a villain, a gold-digger.

It was announced in 2015 that a sequel will soon arrive but there were no further updates on its production. Finally, "Frozen 2" producer Peter Del Vecho recently announced that he and his team are already working on the sequel. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, the producer said that they are working hard on it. Interestingly, he said that fans will be able to fully understand the original movie once they have seen the sequel.

"We're in the development writing process and are very excited by it. Like all movies, it will evolve," Del Vecho said excitingly. The release date for the sequel is yet to be announced but according to the Telegraph, it could be in 2019 or after that. Disney has already announced its movie releases for 2017 and 2018 such as "Beauty and the Beast, "Coco and Gigantic," "Mulan" among others but "Frozen 2" is not one of them.

Disney CEO Robert Iger previously said that they don't require speed but excellence. Moreover, Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, and Josh Gad are also expected to reprise their roles as Anna, Elsa and the cheerful and humorous snowman Olaf. Reports also say that Elsa and Anna will have a new look in "Frozen 2" specifically a new dress in the sequel.

The original film ranks as the highest-grossing animated film in history and has earned numerous awards. It was praised for its themes, screenplay, visuals, musical numbers and voice acting. Fans believe that "Frozen 2" will certainly do the same or even better.
