He is one of the biggest foundations in CBS popular series "Criminal Minds." Aaron Hotchner (Thomas Gibson) was the unit chief of FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit in Quantico and the direct superior of all the special agents. He is known for being determined, extremely serious and is barely seen with his wit and humor. Despite that, he was loved and fans are even longing for him until now when he departed BAU to enter into a witness protection program. Now, fans are wondering if they will ever get to see him again in the series following its renewal for a thirteenth season.

Thomas Gibson was kicked out of "Criminal Minds" after having an alleged altercation with one of the writers about a script of an episode that he was directing in 2016. Since his sudden exit from the series, many fans come up with a plan to get him back to the show through filing a petition. Fans even started to start a hashtag that circulated online. The hashtag NoHotchNoWatch become widely popular after his departure.

Since his exit from "Criminal Minds," the series has suffered lower ratings compared to the previous seasons when he and Shemar Moore (Derek Morgan) were still in the series. After CBS News confirmed that Moore is reprising his role in the season 12 finale, many fans are now wondering whether Gibson gets another chance of returning to the show. According to Entertainment Weekly, CBS has made another deal with the series for another season that will return next fall.

With "Criminal Minds" renewal for season 13 and Moore's return in season 12 finale, fans are pretty positive that Gibson is coming back. One major reason is that Gibson's Aaron Hotchner only entered the witness protection program and can always come back to BAU when necessary. Some fans believe that his return to the show as the ever serious Hotch will help the series get another remarkable rating just like before.
