Fans have been eagerly waiting for George R.R. Martin's "The Winds of Winter," which is the sixth novel in the fantasy epic series "A Song of Ice and Fire." There were reports that the book might be out in June while others believe that "American Gods" author Neil Gaiman is helping GRRM in writing the novel to expedite its release. Recent reports claim that "Game of Thrones" spin-offs are already in development and GRRM is reportedly helping the spinoff writers. That said, fans are now concerned that the infamous author might be delayed with releasing the book once again.

GRRM has been teasing the release timeline of "The Winds of Winter" and announced in his blog earlier this year that the book should be out before the year ends. What's more interesting is that he said that he also thought the same in the previous year, leaving fans more disappointed. Recently, Celebeat reports that the popular author is just finishing a charity work and then will focus on writing the book. However, with the recent reports that he is involved with the "Game of Thrones" spin-offs, fans doubt if he would still be able to release the book this year.

"The Winds of Winter" author is also helming a film studio in his hometown, which will be available to Hollywood projects and film entrepreneurs. This is also one of the reasons why the book has been delayed again. Variety reports that HBO has hired four writers to helm the "Game of Thrones" spin-offs although there is no timeline for the development of the said project. "We'll take as much or as little time as the writers need and, as with all our development, we will evaluate what we have when the scripts are in," a spokesperson explained.

Theories have that "The Winds of Winter" author will work with the four writers, Max Borenstein, Jane Goldman, Brian Helgeland and Carly Wray for the "Game of Thrones" spin-offs. That said, fans are now wondering whether or not GRRM can finish the novel before the year ends. GRRM said that he will announce once the book is completed as well as before its delivery.

There is no word from GRRM just yet about his involvement in the spin-offs but "The Winds of Winter" fans are still hoping to get their hands on the novel this year. Celebeat will keep everyone posted if we get more updates on the upcoming novel. Stay tuned.
