The 28-year-old "Into The Woods" actress has long been rumored to be Sam Heughan's real-life girlfriend. Although "Outlander" fans have been constantly shipping the actor and Caitriona Balfe, the photo proved that nothing romantic is going between them at all.

As a matter of fact, Caitriona Balfe was in the photo and the 37-year-old actress and model were the one who shared the snap on social media. "Belated birthday celebrations for @SamHeughan ... Here's to an amazing year !!!" The "Outlander" season 3 actress wrote.

The post did not only confirm that Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are just friends and the actor is actually dating Mackenzie Mauzy, but it also proved that there is no bad blood between both women. But just because Sam and Caitriona are not real-life lovers, that does not mean that the actor doesn't like spending time with his co-star at all.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Sam Heughan shared that he missed shooting with Caitriona Balfe in "Outlander" season 3. "It's always hard when we're apart, actually, because she's a great person, great to come to work with, and a very good actress," he said.
