Fans are already excited for "Vikings" Season 5 but some are also concerned about how the series will continue without its lead character. After all, a lot of people vowed that they would not watch the show if Ragnar Lothbrok dies. Is it possible that ratings will plummet without Travis Fimmel? Could Ragnar still make an appearance despite his death in the fourth season?

The death of Ragnar Lothbrok has certainly been teased throughout Season 4. The premiere featured the King of Kattegat dreaming that the gates of Valhalla have closed on him and even his wife Aslaug seemed to expect that the end is near for Ragnar. The manner of his assassination also wasn't a surprise (according to Norse legend, Ragnar was dropped in a pit of snakes by King Aelle) but it still managed to shock fans with its violence. Unfortunately, this could also mean that Travis Fimmel will no longer return in "Vikings" Season 5. Will Fimmel's absence affect the show's ratings?

Losing Ragnar Lothbrok might be unfortunate but that doesn't mean that "Vikings" Season 5 will be a complete loss. After all, the series already has another wild-eyed Northman in Ragnar's crippled son Ivar the Boneless, who is expected to go up against Jonathan Rhys-Meyers' Bishop Heahmund. In addition to that, people are already looking forward to seeing more of Lagertha, who has taken over as ruler of Kattegat. There is little doubt that things will still get exciting without Travis Fimmel.

CeleBeat has previously reported on the possibility that "Vikings" Season 5 air date will be announced by May since filming wrapped earlier this month. Katheryn Winnick even shared a photo of the cast on Instagram and there is still no sign of Travis Fimmel. Nevertheless, fans are hoping that the History series will fare well without Ragnar Lothbrok.
