George R.R. Martin

Fans are still waiting for "The Winds of Winter" but the real question is, When will George R.R. Martin finally find time to work on the sixth "A Song of Ice and Fire" novel? Some have noticed that the "Game of Thrones" author has been spending most of his time dealing with other projects or making appearances at conventions. Is it possible that Martin's several distractions has been causing the unnecessary delay of "TWOW"? The writer has already confirmed that he will be at the upcoming 75th World Science Fiction Convention in Helsinki for a lot longer than expected.

It's no secret that George R.R. Martin enjoys making appearances at talks and conventions, but that doesn't mean that the author isn't hard at work on "The Winds of Winter". After all, Martin has made a point of sharing "TWOW" chapters with the fans whenever time permits. However, some are also concerned that these chapters are not new pages for Book Six of "ASOIAF". There are speculations that Martin might not be devoting enough time to the novel, leading to its repeated delay, Blasting News shared.

George R.R. Martin recently posted an update on the Wild Cards books on his LiveJournal, making sure to point out that he will not work on new stories for the series until he has finished "The Winds of Winter". The author's words should have been assuring, but fans also noted that Martin responded in the comments section to confirm his appearance at Worldcon 75 in Helsinki. The "Game of Thrones" writer stated that he "will be there for the entire con" (that's 5 full days) and "will be doing two signings, and probably a couple of panels... and of course the parties."

Naturally, fans were concerned that the trip to Finland will keep George R.R. Martin from working on "The Winds of Winter". Nevertheless, there is hope that the author will offer an update on the book and finally announce its release date. Worldcon 75 will take place at Messukeskus in Helsinki from August 9 to 13.
