Tom Cruise And Katie Holmes Divorce: Custody Of Suri, Tom Releases Statement

On Friday Katie Holmes attorney, Jonathan Wolfe released a statement on behalf of the actress, saying that Holmes and hubby Tom Cruise are divorcing after almost five years of marriage.

"This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family. Katie's primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest," the statement read.

As news of this shocking divorce leaks, Tom Cruise has released his own statement.

"Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children," read the statement. "Please allow them their privacy"

According to TMZ, Cruise was "blindsided" because it was Holmes that filed.

No reason for the split has been revealed, but Perez Hilton reports that yesterday Katie Holmes filed citing "irreconcilable differences."

Perez Hilton further reports that when it comes to the case of Cruise and Holmes's six-year-old daughter, Suri, her mother wants sole legal custody, as well as primary residential custody.

As for how they will split their assets, sources are stating that Homes wants a "suitable amount" of child support, as well as division of property.
