Naomi Watts, 43, embodied Princess Diana on the set of her new film "Caught in Flight." The actress looked every bit like the people's princess, with her short blonde locks, and her lithe figure, which was draped in a shimmering silver gown.

Watts has done wonders for the role which was originally reported to have belonged to actress Jessica Chastain.

"The filmmakers came to me and it's a good script and it's very scary and I kind of wanted to say no but I couldn't." The Australian-born actress said regarding her decision to play the iconic princess.

"It is such an honor to be able to play this iconic role. Princess Diana was loved across the world and I look forward to rising to the challenge of playing her on screen," Watts said in a released statement.

"I don't think anyone else could have done it," her co-star Naveen Andrews, who will play Princess Diana's long-time love, Dr. Hasnat Kahn, told the Press Association. "There's no one else."

"Whenever you work, usually if something has a chance or the potential to be good it usually starts with a good script and I'm very happy with the script and Naomi is doing it and she's wonderful," said Andrews. "I'm very much looking forward to shooting."

According to Ecosse Films, "Caught in Flight," directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, will recount the last two years of Diana's life and "how finding true personal happiness for the first time allowed her to achieve her defining successes evolving into a major international campaigner and humanitarian."
