After taking a year off from NBC's "The Biggest Loser," seasoned trainer Jillian Michaels will be returning to kick the new contestants into shape.

Going into its 14th season, "The Biggest Loser" has helped adults lose weight in the heartbreaking and inspiring reality competition. Now, with the help of Michaels, the reality show is adding an interesting twist. When the new season premieres in January, it will not only feature adult contestants, but children between the age of 13 and 17.

Jillian Michaels took to the "Today" show on Tuesday to share the news of her return, along with her reasoning behind it.

"We're very cognizant of how touchy [childhood obesity] is...And yet, of course, that's right where I want to be, right in the sweet spot, right in the frying pan," Michaels, a new mom, revealed. "I couldn't miss an opportunity to be part of it."

According to TVLine, three child contestants will be featured on each team. Although they will be on a team, they won't actually be competing or on the ranch.

"It's about getting them healthy," Michaels explained. "Using words like 'healthy.' We won't be getting them on a scale; it's about getting them on a softball team."

Michaels will rejoin her fellow trainers Bob Harper and Dolvett Quince when the new season picks up in January. TVGuide.com also teased that "The Biggest Loser" will also have some celebrity guest stars swinging by.
