‘How I Met Your Mother’ Season 8 Spoilers: Another Encounter With The Mother, Recap Of The Premiere

Monday night was possibly the beginning of the end for "How I Met Your Mother." Launching their eighth season without a definite answer on whether their ending the series this year or next, "How I Met Your Mother" jumped in head first to finding Ted's wife and mother of his kids. 

So, what exactly happened in the season eight premiere? The show picked up where we left off last season -- with Barney's wedding day to Robin! Ted goes to see Robin and finds out that she is a little less than calm for her big day. Attempting to climb out a window, Ted stops her and we flashback to Ted and Victoria (in her wedding dress) driving off together. When Ted learns that the woman he is fleeing with did not leave her fiance Klaus a goodbye note, Ted turns the car around so that they can leave him one. 

Of course the task of leaving the note is not going to be an easy one, and Ted ends up having to climb into the bridal suite (a couple times) to leave the note. Forgetting his keys in the room, Ted attempts to climb back in to retrieve them, but not before running into Klaus. Like Victoria, Klaus is just not prepared to get ready to her, and Ted catches him leaving the wedding. Since Klaus understands the common courtesy of leaving a goodbye note, Ted climbs back in and takes back Victoria's letter, leaves a couple fake teardrops on Klaus' letter and can now officially ride off into the sunset with Victoria.

As usual, Ted's mind over thinks things and he begins to wonder why Klaus would leave Victoria at the altar. Meeting up with Klaus at the train station, Ted gets to ask him why he would leave Victoria. Klaus answers him simply, telling Ted that she just wasn't the one. Meanwhile Ted is soo close to his one! Fans catch another look at the "mother," and while in the past the show has displayed feet, calves and other odd things, on Monday night we got a look at her knees. 

And finally back to Barney and Robin. While the wedding might be a flash forward on the show, the pair are slowly making their way back to each other. Even though Barney is now with Quinn, Robin realizes how much Barney cares for her when she finds different things in his storage unit that are memories from their relationship. 

So, with possibly the last premiere out of the way, what do the creators of the show have to say? Co-creator Craig Thomas revealed to Entertainment Weekly that the train station where we saw the mother's knees is "the finish line." Although a verbal interaction may not have taken place just yet, it's there that Ted finally meets her. Don't expect for that train station encounter to finish up next week though. Thomas continued that fans won't see it until "a little further down the road."
