Fall 2012 brought with it some great new shows...and some pretty horrible ones. With the New Year right around the corner we've compiled a list of five must watch new shows debuting this year. Check out the latest additions to your favorite network!

"The Americans" [FX]

"The Americans" is set to premiere on FX on Jan. 30, and it looks seriously juicy! Set in the 1980s, "The Americans" is a Cold War drama starring "Felicity's" Keri Russell and "Brothers & Sisters" star Matthew Rhys." Russell and Rhys play Elizabeth and Phillip Jennings...Soviet KGB spies posing as an American married couple. Unfortunately for the pair, their neighbor is an FBI agent who is hell bent on tracking foreign agents like the Jennings. You can catch "The Americans" after "American Horror Story" completes its second season. "The Americans" airs on Wednesdays on FX at 10 p.m.

"The Carrie Diaries "[The CW]

"Sex And The City" fans rejoice! You can watch Carrie grow up and become the fabulous woman we all know and love in the new CW series, "The Carrie Diaries." Premiering on Monday, Jan. 14 on the CW, "The Carrie Diaries" stars a bunch of fresh new faces including "Soul Surfer" star AnnaSophia Robb, "Life Unexpected's" Austin Butler (Vanessa Hudgen's boyfriend), "90210's" Chloe Bridges" and "Eli Stone's" Matt Letscher. Like "The Americans," this new series is also set in the 1980s and is a prequel to "Sex And The City." Catch "The Carrie Diaries" on the CW Mondays at 8 p.m. starting Jan. 14.

"Cult" [The CW]

"Vampire Diaries" fans won't want to miss "Cult." Premiering on Tuesday, Feb. 19 on the CW, "Cult" stars "Vampire Diaries" hottie Matt Davis (Alaric Saltzman). The new series also stars "Melrose Place" star Jessica Lucas, "Supernatural's" Alona Tal" and
"Prison Break's" Robert Knepper. "Cult" sounds like it can be confusing, as it is a story within a story...within a story. Davis' character plays a "disgraced reporter" investigating the fan base of a series called "Cult." It sounds confusing...but our fingers are crossed that it plays out well on screen. You can catch "Cult" on Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. on the CW starting Feb. !9.

"The Following" [Fox]
"The Following" has had a lot of TV spots...and we're not going to lie...we're intrigued! Starring Kevin Bacon, the new Fox show follows an FBI profiler who comes out of retirement to help catch a serial killer and his "cult of murderers." "The Following" premieres on Fox on Monday, Jan. 21 at 9 p.m.

"Golden Boy" [CBS]

"Golden Boy" is a cop show...but with a twist. TVLine.com described the new CBS series as a sort of "How I Met Your Mother" story telling. "Downton Abbey's" Theo James" stars as Walter William Clark Jr., the youngest police commissioner in NYPD history. "Golden Boy" tells the story of how Clark got the position via flashbacks. The show also stars "True Blood" star Kevin Alejandro and "Pushing Daisies" Chi McBride. "Golden Boy" previews on Feb. 26 and Mar. 5 at 10 p.m. You can watch the series regularly beginning Friday, Mar. 8 at 9 p.m.
