Lindsay Lohan's movie career seems to be at a standstill and so is the movie that she is featured in.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lohan's new film "The Canyons" was rejected by the South By Southwest festival, which takes place in Austin, Texas, in March. The film is Lohan's first motion picture since the critically-acclaimed (sarcasm) "Machete" in 2010, which was already shelved and not accepted by the Sundance Film Festival already underway in Utah.

"The Canyons," which was directed by Paul Schrader (screenwriter for "Raging Bull" and "Taxi") and written by Bret Easton Ellis (who wrote "American" and "Less Than Zero"), has not received positive reviews from anyone who has seen the movie.

"It's got an ugliness and a deadness to it," a festival insider told The Reporter,

Another person said that it suffers from significant "quality issues."

The New York Times a few weeks ago ran an extensive day by day rundown of the filming of "The Canyons" and the lengths that were taken to make sure the movie was done. It features a lot of nudity, including nude shots of Lohan and her involvement in a four-way sex scene. The Times article did not paint over Lohan's behavior on set, her demands and her unwillingness to conform to certain things in the script, even though she signed on to do those things. There is even a video that has surfaced of Lohan cursing out co-star and adult film actor James Deen. Some have said that inclusion of Lohan in the film may be its detriment as many are not interested in anything she does, on or off screen.

The low-budget indie film, which was mostly paid for from contributions given to the fundraising website Kickstarter, still has no date for theater release (meaning there is no buyers for the film) and not even a date for a DVD release. Given that this film may never see the light of day, we may never see what the big fuss was about and why this movie is being universally panned by everyone.
