Terrence Howard is denying that he physically assaulted his ex-wife and believes that he is the victim of a set up, TMZ reported Tuesday.

Howard, who has starred in such movies as Hustle & Flow was accused by his wife, Michelle Ghent, of beating her while two were on vacation. Despite no longer being married, the two went to Costa Rica together. In the past, Ghent had accused the actor of punching her in the face.

However, a police report rebuffs Ghent's version of events from their recent trip. According to a police report, Howard claimed that his ex-wife was the aggressor in their argument. He also shared to authorities that he was in fear of his life after Gnent pulled out pepper spray and attacked him and his family.

The two will appear in court this afternoon before a judge. Ghent is asking for a restraining order, but reportedly, Howard, will produce text messages allegedly sent from Ghent. In these messages, Ghent said she would bring harm and public humiliation to the actor.

"I know where u and ur family live.  Watch yourself," Ghent allegedly wrote.

In another message, she seemingly admitted to being a danger to her ex because of her mental state. Howard alleged that in the police report that Ghent tried to kill herself two months ago and was diagnosed with paranoia.

"I'm just insane.  I went to a crazy institute," Ghent allegedly wrote.
