The investigations on the deaths of Princess Diana could be reopened after British police say they are evaluating new allegations that the Princess and her boyfriend Dodi Al Fayed were murdered by a former British soldier.

The source of the new allegations reportedly come from an ex-soldier who told his former wife and her parents long ago about this theory. The soldier's former parents in law passed the information to military authorities first and then to London police, according to CNN.

After the new allegations, London police has played down the claims that the British military was involved in the deaths. "This is not a re-investigation," London police said in a statement, according to CNN.

A royal spokesman told the New York Post that there Prince William and Prince Harry will not comment on the reports.

Princess Diana, Fayed and their driver Henri Paul died in a fatal car crash in 1997 when their Mercedes-Benz hit a pillar in the Pont de l'Alma tunnel in Paris.

Investigators concluded that the driver, Henri Paul, was drunk and driving at high speed and that was the cause of death.

According to the new allegations, 16 years after the investigation was closed, the soldier told his wife that the elite British Special Air Service commando unit was involved in the killings. The soldier is known only as Solider N.
