Miley Cyrus has been axed from the December cover of Vogue, Page Six reported Monday.

Sources said that Vogue Editor In Chief Anna Wintour did not approve of Cyrus' antics at the MTV VMA's in August. The 20-year-old gyrated against the married Robin Thicke while they performed at the Barclay Center. Cyrus also was barely clothed and suggestively placed a foam finger between her legs. Apparently, Wintour did not feel that this behavior warranted such prominence in the fashion bible.

Wintour had wanted to promote the former Disney darling as a new icon. However, her twerking performance changed her mind according to sources from the Daily Mail.

"Anna found the whole thing distasteful," a source said "She decided, based on Miley's performance, to take the cover in a different direction."

Cyrus has defended her provocative performances in the press. She told MTV that her sexually charged antics were the norm of past entertainers who took the stage at the annual celebration of music on the network.

"Me and Robin (Thicke) the whole time said, 'You know, we're about to make history right now,'" Cyrus said.

Cyrus' love of nudity has continued. She released the video for Wrecking Ball yesterday, her latest single from the album Bangerz. Cyrus is nude for much of the video.
