Miley  Cyrus and her father Billy Ray are defending the nudity on her Wrecking Ball video, The Huffington Post reported .

Billy Ray appeared on Entertainment Tonight Wednesday and defended his daughter's interpretation of art. On Monday, the 20-year-old released her video for the single Wrecking Ball. She was naked for most of the clip and licked a sledgehammer. Billy Ray said that it was prerogative to do so and that wearing clothes would not have mattered. The country crooner said it was all about the song.

"I'm a song man. A musician singer songwriter who loves all styles of music. But again...I come from the old school where it starts with an artist and a song ...colliding if you will ... in a moment where the song, the singer, the producer, the band and the listener become one," he said.

Billy Ray then added that his daughter not wearing clothes was not the scandal it was being made out to be.

"It wouldn't have mattered if Miley would have worn jeans and a flannel shirt ...a Tux ...or a nun's habit. The song's a smash ...and her performance vocally on the tune reflects her roots and sheer God given talent," he said.

Miley also defended her video this week. Much like her father, she felt that others were missing the point.

"I think the video is much more, if people get past the point that I'm naked and you actually look at me," she said in an interview with New York's z100. "You can tell that I actually look more broken than even the song sounds. The song is a pop ballad. It's one of these songs that everyone is gonna to relate to, everyone's felt that feeling at some point. If people can take their minds off the obvious and go into their imagination a little bit and see kind of what the video really means and the way that it is so vulnerable."
