Robin Thicke has finally addressed his much maligned MTV VMA performance, Just Jared reported Friday.

Thicke made his comments in the latest issue of Star magazine. He responded to critics who took exception to Miley Cyrus gyrating against his private parts during the August telecast. Cyrus also suggestively placed a foam finger in between her legs and was too twerk happy for some.

Thicke took the opportunity to defend their joint performance.

"We knew what we were getting ourselves into. We're entertainers, and the VMAs [are] the perfect place for a little shock and awe. We kind of knew when we were in rehearsal and we were like, 'Okay, if you touch me with your foam finger all over my crotch, obviously a few people are going to have something to say about this'. But that was the whole point!" Thicke said.

Thicke was of the opinion that he and Cyrus succeeded with their intentions.  He seemingly had no regrets about the content of the performance. He also denied that their interaction was sexual in nature.

"The whole point was to excite and provoke and entertain. I thought it was silly and funny. She was being humorous and naughty, but it wasn't sexually charged at all," he said.
