Nicki Minaj has opened up about her experience as a judge on American Idol, E! News reported.

Minaj appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres show Friday and explained her tenure on the reality singing competition. She was a judge for one season in 2012.

"It was a great learning experience, honestly," the rapper said.

DeGeneres could relate as she also served as a judge on the Fox show. The talk show host appeared in 2010 and left after one season as well.

"When you joined Idol and I asked you how in the world you were gonna hold that thing down, did I predict it?" DeGeneres said. "I told you, I said that was gonna be a hard thing for you to do."

Minaj was quick to agree.

"You did say that," the 30-year-old answered. "You said that it was going to be a very difficult job and I laughed you off. I was like, "Ha ha ha Ellen, you don't know what you are talking about.'"

The Hip hop star revealed that she has been very busy since she announced her departure in May. She has been making more music and has been committed to several projects.

"As soon as Idol was done I did the Billboard Awards and I flew to New York to shoot a movie," Minaj said. "So I didn't even get to sit back and think what did I just do."
