Britney Spears has given an interview in which has caused controversy within the gay community, The Huffington Post reported Monday.

Spears gave an interview to 99.7 NOW FM in San Francisco. She was asked what she thought of gay people. The Work Bitch singer replied with an answer that has upset some.

"A lot of my hair stylists and my beauty team that I work with are gay so I hang out with gays a lot and I just think they're adorable and hilarious," Spears said.

Recently, Spears came under fire for alegdy using the gay community as part of a marketing tool. In September, Blanco, a gender-bending queer performer, felt that Spears was using the gay community for profit. In now deleted tweets, he felt that pop singers such as Spears used their fans to make money but did not truly care about the cause.

Spears has not addressed the controversy over her word choice or why some might be offended. Instead, she has been focusing on her upcoming Las Vegas residency. She tweeted to her fans about the Dec. 27 show and what fans can expect.
