Leighton Meester is engaged to Adam Brody, PEOPLE reported Wednesday.

Meester, who starred on Gossip Girl, has been dating the OC star for the past year. She and the 33-year-old Brody have not shared many details about their relationship. However, sources have said that the two are very happy.

The two worked together on the 2011 film Oranges. The romantic comedy was about a ,an becoming involved with his neighbor's daughter. At the time of this film, Meester was fresh out of a relationship with Sebastian Stan. In the Frbruary 2010 issue of Seventeen, she explained why the romance ended.

"I've only had one experience where it was really hard and I was really sad when it ended, but that's what taught me a lot about myself and love and life - and that's good," she said.

Despite her heartbreak at the time, Meester was still determined to find love again.

"If I shut love down or didn't let it in, I would just be this really cold, sad person," she said.

For Brody's part, he once dated Rachel Bilson. The two ended their relationship in 2006 and a source explained why the OC co-stars fell apart.

"It was a typical romance and they just grew apart," the source said.
