Candace Cameron Bure is healthy and fit now but revealed that she dieted obsessively and suffered from the bulimia, an eating disorder, during her teenage years.

In an interview with OMG! Insider, the 37-year-old actress talked about her struggle with bulimia and how she turned to food for comfort.

"I turned to food for comfort and had to find a different source, because clearly it wasn't a healthy way to deal with things," she explained.

She also said that the show runners of Full House were protective of her sense of body image, which was why she did not develop the eating disorder while she was on the show. "I think I was very protected by my parents and even the producers," Bure said. "They all had a sensitivity about it. The producers were parents themselves. I don't think any of them wanted to see that happen to their child, so I was protected."

The mother of three said that her faith in God and her supportive husband, Valeri Bure helped her to embrace the healthier lifestyle that she leads now. "So that's really when my faith was kicked up a notch and sought comfort in my relationship with God, and not with food."
