Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie Split After 3 Years of Marriage and One Child

Hilary Duff and her husband, Mike Comrie, have separated, a representative for the actress confirmed to the media..

"They remain best friends and will continue to be in each other's lives. They are dedicated to loving and parenting their amazing son, and ask for privacy at this time," her rep told Us Weekly.

On Friday, Jan. 10, the actress took to her Twitter account to express her gratitude to her fans: "Mike and I are sitting here,we are so appreciative for all of your kindness & well wishes. Not an easy day but we're getting thru it together."

A source revealed to People that there was no drama involved in the separation. "There was no major incident -- no big event between the two of them," a source told the magazine. "They really did drift apart. They have put effort and thought into this decision for a long time. They tried couples therapy, but in the end, they realized at this time, they work better as friends. And they really are great friends."

Although their social media accounts tell a fairy tale story, it seemed that the two were going through a rough patch when it comes to their marriage. In September, Star magazine reported that the couple was on the verge of separation and were attending couples therapy.  "She felt like Mike forgot how to treat her special," a source said to the tabloid.

The two tied the knot in August 2010. They welcomed their first child, son Luca Cruz, in March 2012.
