Jennifer Hudson has parted ways with Weight Watchers.

The former American Idol star lost a reported 80 pounds while working with the weight loss brand, but after four years, she has chosen to cut ties and focus on other things.

"I have chosen to step away from my role as ambassador and I am excited for the year to come, with many new projects and lots of new music," Hudson told PEOPLE Magazine in a March 14 statement. "My experience with Weight Watchers has truly been life changing. I am grateful for what I have learned throughout the process and will always take it with me."

Seven months after giving birth to son David Daniel Otunga Jr. with fiancé David Otunga, Hudson was named as the face of Weight Watchers in April 2010.

In Aug. 2010, Hudson revealed to In Style that she had gone from a size 16 to a size 6 -- and that she had lost 56 pounds. Then, in Feb. 2011, Hudson claimed to have lost even more weight, for a total of 80 pounds.

Of Hudson's exit, a rep for Weight Watchers added, "We're confident Jennifer will remain a Lifetime Member. Jennifer's healthy lifestyle and successful weight loss has inspired so many – from her friends and family to our members and staff, as well as people around the world – and we know that inspiration lives on."

Among the "new projects" Hudson will be tending to post-Weight Watchers are her upcoming third studio album, which is set to be released sometime this year, and her starring role alongside Amy Adams in the 2014 film, Lullaby.
